Luring Lorikeets
Luring Lorikeets
Why not research the natural habitat of lorikeets and create a haven for them in your own backyard?
We love our lorikeets. We planted this row of Callistemons about four years ago and the lorikeets visit morning and afternoon. The lorikeets chatter merrily on top of these shrubs and the lower branches have all been stripped away so that the cats can't climb them. I often have to cut the Callistemons back when they are full of flowers so that the Lorikeets aren't to noisy when they have they're tea parties. We have never needed to buy commercial Lorikeet food because there are always plenty of flowers. We have also planted some grevilleas in other areas of the garden, which they love and our neighbours have a large flowering eucalypt, which keeps the lorikeets very busy. We have put out water in a birdbath for them too.
